Luciano Bartolini  |  Biography   Luciano Bartolini was born in Fiesole on 23 July 1948. He did not attend art school but conducted some systematic linguistic studies. In 1971, he started to travel regularly around the East, particularly in northern India and Nepal. He produced his first works consisting mainly in wrapping paper in 1973-74. In 1974, he started on the “Kleenex” series using glued wrapping paper and Kleenex to create regular patterns. This series of works led, in 1975, to “Cartepaglie”.   Paper was the material of preference in all Bartolini’s work.
In 1980, he was invited to the Venice Biennale and in 1983 he spent some time in Berlin, resulting in a major one-man exhibition at the Nationalgalerie.

Luciano Bartolini died prematurely in April 1994. In 2000, the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Bologna held a large retrospective curated by Roberto Daolio, at the Villa delle Rose exhibition venue.
